Leitz product code VALOO, later 16620. Introduced in 1949, this is a hood originally designed for enlarging work.
It was originally made to improve aperture operation when using an Elmar 50mm lens on enlargers or focusing stages such as the Valoy or Focomat.
In practice, it can also be used as a taking lens hood, and today it is mainly used as a hood for the Elmar 50mm. Weighing approximately 60g, it has a rugged, purposeful appearance. The aperture control ring is equipped with a pleasantly tactile click-stop mechanism, making it a beautifully crafted piece with that unmistakable Leitz attention to detail.
The front end is A36 size, allowing the use of a genuine Leica cap. It is slightly longer than the classic FISON hood, so good shading performance can also be expected.
There are some scuffs and minor scratches throughout. Apart from the knurled section at the front, where the brass is showing, the paint remains well preserved.
Tested and confirmed to fit our Nickel Elmar 50mm f3.5. The click stops feel pleasant, and everything operates smoothly.
The price includes Japanese consumption tax and domestic shipping.
