Angenieux Zoom 45-90mm. Produced between 1968 and 1980, this was the very first zoom lens offered by Leitz. Initially introduced for the Leicaflex, it features the Leica R mount with 3 cams. Serial number falls in the 1.46 million range, which is not a Leitz number but Angenieux’s own serial system. This example belongs to the final batch made in 1980. Filter size is 67mm screw-in, or Series 8 filters can be inserted between the hood and the lens.

With a complex optical design of 12 groups and 15 elements, and a constant aperture of f2.8, it offers highly appealing brightness. Across all focal lengths, it delivers the rich, smooth rendering reminiscent of Angenieux prime lenses. Especially at close range, it produces dense wide-open images with gentle flare and beautiful bokeh. Even stopped down, a touch of softness lingers, a signature of Angenieux.

Its sleek and simple design makes for a handsome appearance. Many photographers enjoy pairing this lens with Leica SL series bodies.

This is a previously sold item from our shop, carefully used by a customer and now returned to us.
The exterior shows only minimal signs of normal use, such as very light scuffs or slight gloss, while the texture of the matte paint is well preserved, leaving it in very clean condition.
Fully overhauled in 2025, with meticulous servicing that ensures the aperture and focusing helicoid move with exceptional smoothness. For a lens with a long barrel and substantial weight, the stress-free handling is a great advantage.

The glass shows minor coating deterioration and one or two faint cleaning marks on the rear element, but these have virtually no effect on photography. There is no haze, making this an excellent glass condition for an Angénieux zoom.
Test shots have produced excellent results.
