Uncoated prewar Elmar 35mm f3.5. EKURZCHROM. Serial number in the 400,000 range, made in 1937. Feet scale. Three elements in four groups. Among Leitz lenses, it is the second thinnest design after the Hektor 28mm.
Wide open, it shows pleasant natural falloff toward the edges, and although orthodox in character, it reveals surprising depth the more you use it. In recent years, this lens has been receiving renewed appreciation.
Compatible hoods are FLQOO or FOOKH, but our original FB-07 hood with aperture control can also be used without vignetting.
Wear marks and small abrasions are visible around the base of the barrel, with a touch of brass showing along the edges.
Fully overhauled in 2023, including focus adjustment. Thanks to the thorough service, the aperture and helicoid still offer a smooth and pleasant feel, and rangefinder coupling is spot on. The internal anti-reflection lacquer has also been carefully repainted, promising a crisp and well-controlled rendering.
The glass shows no noticeable cleaning marks and remains clean and clear throughout. Although the exterior shows some signs of use, this is a lens that lets you enjoy the classic character of the Elmar 35mm.
Comes with original front and rear caps.
