Summicron 35mm f2 with chrome barrel, commonly known as the 8-element version. Made in Germany. Leitz product code SAWOM, later 11308. Serial number in the 2.27 million range, manufactured in 1968.
Minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters, filter size E39.
At full aperture it produces a gentle, soft rendering, but when stopped down slightly, the three-dimensional quality increases markedly, and when stopped down further, it transitions into a crisp, sharp image while retaining its smooth tonality. A renowned lens offering a wide expressive range.
In addition to its outstanding optical performance, the functional beauty typical of German industrial design is another strong appeal. The popularity of the 8-element version has been rising in recent years, and good examples are becoming increasingly hard to find.
Compatible hoods include ITDOO and IROOA, as well as later types such as 12585 and 12504.

There are very light scuffs on the helicoid and lens base, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents. Overall, the chrome finish remains beautiful and the exterior is in excellent condition.
Fully overhauled in October 2025. Thanks to careful servicing, the aperture ring moves smoothly with a precise click feel, and the helicoid operates with perfect smoothness, providing excellent handling. The infinity stop has been finely tuned to settle with a satisfying feel, and the rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned.
Under strong LED light, a faint trace of coating deterioration can be seen on an inner element, but it has no effect on image quality. No haze or fungus is observed, and the glass is clear and bright. The original amber and purple multi-coating remains beautifully preserved on all surfaces. Actual shooting tests produced excellent results.
