A wide-angle lens by Som Berthiot of France, the Angulor 28mm f3.3. Leica screw mount. Serial number is in the 107xxxx range. Optical design is 4 elements in 6 groups. The helicoid scale is in feet. It features the clear blue coating characteristic of Berthiot lenses.
Among the many barrel variations of the Angulor 28mm, this piece is a later lightweight all-aluminum version. Actual weight is 141 g.
It has the refined exterior design typical of French-made lenses. Despite its compact size, it delivers sharp rendering and vivid color reproduction. A great choice for anyone seeking a 28 mm lens that stands apart from the usual options.
Some signs of use such as light rub marks can be seen on the aluminum barrel, but it is in quite clean condition for an Angulor.
Both the aperture and helicoid operate smoothly. The lens shows a few very faint wipe marks on the front element, and slight coating deterioration on an inner element that becomes visible only under a strong LED light. No haze or fungus is present. The glass is very clean for an Angulor.
Test shots were excellent. It delivers superb central sharpness and very pleasing color rendition. Please take a look at the sample images.
An aluminum rear cap is included.
