Alpa Macro-Switar f1.9. An apochromatic lens with feet scale. Although a total of 6,303 units were produced, it is not often seen.
In 1968 the optical design was changed from a 5-group 7-element f1.8 to a 5-group 8-element f1.9. Compared with the f1.8, the f1.9 delivers a sharper and higher contrast rendering at wide apertures, though both versions are outstanding lenses.
With excellent color reproduction and pleasing bokeh, and being highly capable in close-up photography, the Macro-Switar enjoys a strong reputation among digital camera users and remains a very popular lens today.
Light wear can be seen on the hood mount and the knurled helicoid section, but overall there is little sign of use and the glossy black finish presents a beautiful appearance. Fully overhauled in August 2025. Thanks to meticulous servicing, the aperture ring moves with a smooth, damped feel and the helicoid extends and retracts effortlessly, resulting in excellent handling. Focusing is precise as well.
The glass shows only the slightest trace of coating deterioration, with no noticeable impact on actual photography. No cleaning marks or haze are present, and the optics are clear and bright. The results of the shooting test were also very good.
Comes with an original front cap and a protective filter (replacement glass). For a Macro-Switar f1.9, this is a particularly clean example.
