The Summilux-R 35mm f1.4, introduced in 1984. This is the 3-cam version, with a serial number in the 3.27 million range, manufactured in 1983, the year before its official release. Leica's product code is 11337. It features a built-in hood, 67mm filter thread, and a minimum focusing distance of 50 cm.
This lens is highly acclaimed for its beautiful rendering at wide open aperture. Excellent for both close-ups and wider scenes. Performs superbly in direct light as well as backlight. A lens that impresses every time it's tested.
Previously sold by our store, this lens has returned in excellent condition, just as it was at the time of the previous sale, having been carefully used by its former owner.
There are a few extremely minor scuff marks on the outer surface of the hood, and slight wear to the black chrome finish on the lens barrel and filter thread, but overall, it shows very little sign of use and remains in beautiful shape.
Fully overhauled in 2024, with meticulous servicing that ensures smooth operation across all controls. The Summilux-R 35mm is known for having a somewhat heavy helicoid, but this particular unit offers a stress-free and fluid focusing experience.
The glass is clear, with no haze or notable cleaning marks. When held under strong LED light, a faint trace of coating deterioration can be seen in the inner element, but this has virtually no impact on image quality.
Although from the previous sale, sample photos are available in our image gallery. The rendering offers a unique combination of gentle softness and moderate sharpness, characteristic of this lens.
Includes the original box, warranty card, inspection certificate, manual, and leather case. The box is also in excellent condition, making this a highly desirable piece for collectors.
