UV filter for monochrome photography, designed for the Elmar 35mm and 50mm lenses. It has a slightly yellow-tinted glass. E19. Introduced in 1931 as Leitz’s first screw-in filter. The Leitz product code is FIORE.
At the edge of the glass, the letters EL, only about 1mm in size, are engraved. This most likely stands for Ernst Leitz.
With A36 slip-on UV filters such as the FIOLA, the filter has to be removed each time the aperture is adjusted. With this filter, however, the aperture can be operated while the filter remains attached.
For some reason, production of this type of E19 filter was quite limited, making it a very rare accessory today. Along with the UVa filter for color photography, this is one accessory we wish Leitz had made in greater numbers.

The filter ring shows a slight hint of exposed brass. The glass has a somewhat noticeable number of fine cleaning marks, but they should have little effect on image quality.
The original box is for a contemporary E19 Yellow No.1 filter, FIRHE. Please consider it as a bonus.
