Super Angulon 21mm f4 in the original Leica screw mount. The original L-mount version is somewhat scarce, with only 1462 units produced. The Leitz product code is SUOON, later updated to 11002K.
Made by Schneider, this lens features a 4-group 9-element construction. The serial number is in the 1.64 million range, dating it to 1959. The minimum focusing distance is 0.4 m, though rangefinder coupling is effective from 0.7 m.
This is a lens you will want to pair with a Leica If or Ig, the 21 mm standalone finder, and the original IWKOO hood. Stopping down and shooting without a finder can also be great fun.
Earlier Leica M digital models show color shift toward the edges, but with the Leica M11 this issue does not appear. Test shots taken with our shop’s M11 confirm clean performance without color cast.
Light traces of wear can be seen around the hood mounting area, but overall this Super-Angulon is in remarkably clean condition. Since many Angulon lenses tend to show heavy use, finding one this well-kept is rather uncommon.
Fully overhauled in November 2025, including focus calibration. The aperture and helicoid now operate with the smooth feel you would expect, and the rangefinder coupling is spot on.
The glass shows no haze or noticeable cleaning marks. Test shots also produced excellent results, delivering solid contrast even in backlit situations.
Original front and rear caps are included. The genuine rear cap for the Leica L-mount Super-Angulon is itself quite rare, and the example included here is in unusually fine condition. A lens that clearly shows its excellent pedigree.
