Hektor 2.8cm f6.3, chrome late model. HOOPYCHROM. Serial number is in the 790,000 range, manufactured in 1950. Distance scale is in meters. This lens is coated.
Among the Hektor 28mm lenses produced since 1935, this example comes from the later batches and shows slight design differences from the prewar models. The most noticeable change is the relocation of the serial number from the rear of the lens to the front.
The Hektor 28mm is the most compact of all Leica lenses. It pairs beautifully not only with Barnack Leica bodies but also with M-mount Leica cameras when used with an M/L adapter, thanks to its ultra-thin profile. However, due to this slim design, it is prone to being dropped, so careful selection is essential.
The soft purple coating compensates for the Hektor 28mm’s typical weakness in backlighting. This particular lens benefits greatly from the coating, delivering superb image quality.
No signs of use, with a very clean appearance. The chrome finish is free from scratches or scuffs and shines beautifully.
Fully overhauled in July 2025, including precise focus adjustment. Thanks to the meticulous servicing, both the aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly and with a pleasant feel. Rangefinder coupling is also spot on.
The glass is exceptionally clean, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze. The lens features a faint, beautiful coating that truly makes it a gem. This coating helps deliver sharp images and effectively suppresses unwanted flare even in backlit situations.
Image quality is excellent, and sample photos have been uploaded to our gallery. Please take a look.
