※About rarity

Postwar Leica IIIc, serial number in the 510,000 range, manufactured in 1950. The following batch marked the final production lot of the IIIc, and in the same year, 1950, the next-generation model IIIf was introduced.
Leitz product code: LOOHW. This was the first Leica to feature a die-cast aluminum body, which made large-scale production possible. It represented an epoch-making turning point for Leitz.
Compared to the sheet-metal body of the earlier IIIb, the IIIc is about 3mm wider, meaning the baseplate and Leica Pistol are not interchangeable. This particular camera was produced in the later postwar period, just before the IIIf appeared in 1951.
The Leica IIIc is a highly interesting model with a wide range of variations. Because its production began in 1940, during World War II, there exist military versions engraved with Luftwaffen or Heer markings, the IIIcK Grey designed for cold climates, the non-K Grey, and the extremely rare Black Paint version.

There are scuff marks on the top cover and baseplate from normal use. However, for a IIIc, which is often found heavily used, this example is in relatively good condition. No dents or dings are visible. The chrome and vulcanite covering are both in fine shape.
Fully overhauled in September 2025, with all mechanisms operating smoothly. The viewfinder and rangefinder are clear and easy to see. Ready for practical use.
