※About rarity

A set consisting of a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f3.5 and Extension Ring M. This is the model equipped with a coupling prong and compatible with automatic diaphragm operation. Introduced in 1963.

The lens has a Xenotar-type optical formula with 5 elements in 4 groups. The lens alone allows close-up photography up to 1:2. When combined with the dedicated Extension Ring M, it supports life-size 1:1 macro photography.

According to Tale 85 of The Thousand and One Nights of Nikkor, this lens is equipped with a mechanism that keeps the effective f-number from changing according to the shooting distance, so that the infinity f-number remains unchanged even at close distances, with the diaphragm blades opening accordingly.

Later, the exterior design was changed, and this mechanism was omitted from the Micro-Nikkor-P Auto 55mm F3.5, which appeared in 1970.

There are almost no signs of use, and this is an exceptionally beautiful example. The exterior is so clean that it would not be an exaggeration to call it new. When the lens is extended, the finely textured chrome plating that briefly appears is simply dazzling. The black paint on the knurled part of the helicoid also remains in unused condition.

There is some minute dust inside the lens, but no noticeable cleaning marks, haze, or fungus can be seen.

It comes with the original front cap, plastic case, Japanese instruction manual, owner registration card, and original box. The serial number on the box also matches the lens. Highly recommended for collection.
