Nikkor-S Auto 55mm f1.2.
Introduced in 1965 as a large-aperture, high-speed lens for the Nikon F. It remained in production for an impressive 13 years as a long-selling classic.
Despite its compact size, it achieves a bright maximum aperture of f1.2, making it highly effective for indoor and nighttime photography. The optical design is a 5-group, 7-element double Gauss type, created by Yoshiyuki Shimizu.
Even wide open, the lens delivers well-balanced sharpness in the center with pleasing softness toward the edges. It is a fine old lens that offers a wide range of expressive rendering depending on the aperture. A wonderful lens to enjoy to the fullest even on modern mirrorless cameras.
No signs of use and the exterior is in excellent condition. The lens still retains much of its original new appearance.
All functions operate properly. There are no cleaning marks on the glass. The coating shows slight deterioration, and there is a faint haze around the periphery of the front element, but it can only be noticed under strong LED light. It will not affect image quality.
Comes with the original box (serial number unknown), plastic case, front cap, Japanese instruction sheet, soft case leaflet, and a note regarding export to the United States.
