Summicron 35mm f2 with chrome barrel, commonly known as the 8-element version. Made in Germany. Leica product code is SAWOM, later changed to 11308. Serial number in the 2.19 million range, manufactured in 1966. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters. Filter diameter is E39. This lens is admired not only for its outstanding rendering but also for its design, full of functional beauty typical of German engineering.

It delivers soft rendering at full aperture, a strong three-dimensional feel when slightly stopped down, and crisp sharpness while retaining softness when fully stopped down. Truly Leica in both style and performance.

This is a very clean example. In recent years, the popularity of the 8-element version has only continued to grow, and it is becoming increasingly rare to find well-preserved samples.

Compatible genuine hoods include ITDOO and IROOA, with later models such as 12585 and 12504 also fitting. A lens that is a joy both to shoot with and to admire.

Under magnification, 2 to 3 very faint scuffs can be seen on the front edge of the filter ring and on the barrel, but overall it has an exceptionally clean appearance.
Fully overhauled in 2023, and the glass was cleaned again in 2024. Thanks to this careful maintenance, the aperture and helicoid movements remain smooth and refined. The infinity lock clicks in place nicely, offering stress-free handling. Rangefinder coupling is also excellent.
At the center of the front element, there is a very faint cleaning mark and slight coating deterioration visible only under a loupe, but the glass remains beautifully clear with excellent transparency.
Comes with clean original front and rear caps.
