Summilux-M 21mm f1.4 ASPH., Leica product code 11647. A current model, ultra-wide-angle lens with a large maximum aperture. This particular item has a serial number in the 4,080,000 range and was manufactured in 2009. It features a black chrome finish and comes with a 6-bit code.
The optical construction consists of 10 elements in 8 groups, including two aspherical surfaces and a floating element system. The minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters. It supports Series 8 filters, which are inserted between the lens and the screw-in hood.
Despite its ultra-wide focal length, this lens allows you to isolate subjects with a shallow depth of field when used near wide open. It can be a challenging lens to master, but once tamed, it delivers a unique rendering that few others can offer.
When stopped down, the lens becomes a true deep-focus tool, capable of producing sharp and clear images throughout the frame thanks to its extensive depth of field (at f5.6, the depth of field ranges from 1.2 meters to infinity).
It is an excellent candidate for wide-open shooting on cameras equipped with fast shutter speeds, such as the Leica M11 or Leica SL series.
Near mint condition with no signs of use. The exterior is exceptionally clean, and the glass is equally pristine—free of wipe marks or haze, matching the beautiful appearance of the body.
All functions work properly, including accurate rangefinder coupling. Test shots also showed excellent results.
Please note that when the hood is removed, the front element slightly protrudes beyond the barrel, so extra care is advised when handling. As stated in the original Japanese instructions included with the new product, the hood should remain attached at all times.
