Summilux 35mm f1.4, made in Canada. Second generation. Serial number in the 2,540,000 range. Manufactured in 1972. Leica product code is 11870.
This large-aperture wide-angle lens is one of Leica’s most iconic and long-selling lenses, produced for over 30 years starting from the first generation Steel Rim model.
At maximum aperture, it offers soft, gentle rendering, while stopping down produces sharp images with a calm, atmospheric feel and beautiful lines. Compared to the Summicron, it delivers finer, more delicate detail. The sense of dimensionality when slightly stopped down is also exceptional.
A quintessential 35mm Leica lens offering a wide range of expressive rendering—beloved by many, the Summilux.
This lens was originally sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by the customer.
There is a very slight scuff on the focus tab, but otherwise the appearance is exceptionally clean, with hardly any signs of use. The edges of the barrel, the hood mount, and the mount itself still gleam with beautiful plating.
It was fully overhauled in 2024, including precise focus adjustment. The helicoid remains silky smooth just like at the time of previous sale, and the aperture ring clicks with a pleasant tactile feel. Rangefinder coupling is spot on and focusing is accurate.
When viewed under strong LED light, a faint deterioration in coating can be seen on an inner element, but it should have virtually no impact on actual shooting. There is no haze or hairline scratches—glass condition is crystal clear.
Comes with 12504 hood and Series 7 filter.
This is a top-tier Summilux 2nd generation, with excellent cosmetics, handling, and optics all in one.
