※About rarity

Leica DIII Chrome. Known overseas as the Model F or Leica III. Leica's product code is AFOOV. This particular camera bears a serial number in the 240,000 range and was manufactured in 1937/38. When the DIII was first introduced in 1933, black paint finishes were predominant, but by this time, the majority of units were being produced in chrome.

At first glance, it closely resembles the Leica DII, but the DIII brought a substantial leap in refinement with features like slow shutter speeds, strap lugs, diopter adjustment, and a 1.5x magnification rangefinder.

In today’s world, where both film and development have become quite expensive, taking the time to enjoy a slower photographic process with a camera like this—cherishing each frame—can be a rewarding experience.

There are rather many scuff marks on the baseplate, and slight rubbing is visible near the strap lug corner and around the logo engraving on the top cover. There is also a minor ding on the top cover near the speed dial, and a small scratch on the corner of the rounded section near the rewind knob. These marks are not easily noticeable at a glance and do not detract from the overall aesthetic. Overall, it is a clean body—an ideal DIII for frequent use without worry.

All functions operate smoothly. The previous owner also enjoyed using it for photography. The viewfinder remains clear and pleasant to use.
