While the center remains sharp at full aperture, the characteristic fall-off toward the edges creates a unique atmosphere. Despite its conventional design, it has been gaining renewed appreciation in recent years as a lens that offers deep expressive potential with continued use.
Compatible hoods include FLQOO and FOOKH, and our original FB-07 hood with aperture control function is also usable.
This particular piece was acquired directly in Europe in 2022 from a collector in Italy.
This is an item previously sold by our store, now returned in excellent condition, just as it was at the time of the original sale.
There are only minimal signs of use on the barrel, and the chrome finish is exceptionally clean—remarkably so for a prewar Elmar.
It underwent a full overhaul in 2022, and thanks to careful maintenance, all mechanical functions remain smooth even after three years. The rangefinder coupling works perfectly. The interior of the barrel was also recoated with matte black anti-reflection lacquer during the last overhaul.
The uncoated glass is stunningly clear, with no visible cleaning marks or haze, offering excellent optical transparency. Actual shooting tests produced outstanding results.
An Elmar 35mm with clean glass delivers strong imaging performance and impressive central sharpness. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the lens’s true potential—a hard-to-find piece in exceptional condition.
Comes with original front and rear caps.
