Summicron 50mm f2 2nd version in black paint finish. Model 11817. Serial number in the 2,430,000 range, manufactured in 1970. 5 elements in 6 groups.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary black chrome 2nd version Summicron 50mm, but this is actually the final black paint version. The base of the lens barrel and the focusing ring are finished in black paint. This version has been confirmed in batches such as 2434xxx and 2438xxx.

A perfect match for a Leica M4 black paint body, both in era and aesthetic. A rare find.

This is an item previously sold by our store. It has been well cared for by its former owner and has returned to us once again—this is now the fourth time we've had the pleasure of offering it. A Summicron with a strong homing instinct!

It underwent a full overhaul in 2017, with the lens head serviced again in 2022. Thanks to this careful maintenance, the aperture and focusing helicoid still operate incredibly smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned. The barrel shows minimal signs of use, with only slight wear to the paint.

There is very slight coating degradation on the periphery of the front and middle elements, but the glass remains clean with no noticeable cleaning marks. The center is beautifully clear and bright.
