A rare genuine diopter correction lens for the Nikon SP. The diopter is +3.0D. It is designed for both the standard/telephoto and wide-angle finder windows, with separate correction lenses built into each of the two windows.

On the front, it features the onigiri mark without the NIPPON KOGAKU engraving, along with the word JAPAN. The rear side is marked with the diopter value +3.0D.

It is attached by sliding it down from above into the eyepiece of the Nikon SP, but being made of plastic, the construction is extremely delicate.

As explained in detail below, due to the condition of the product and age-related changes on the Nikon SP body side, there is a high risk of breakage if it is forced into place. Please consider this item for display purposes rather than practical use.

Hairline cracks are present, though difficult to see with the naked eye. One is located at the lower part of the small window for the wide-angle finder on the left side, and another at the lower part of the rail that slides into the edge of the camera-side eyepiece on the right when viewed from the eyepiece side. Aside from these, the overall appearance is quite clean with minimal signs of use.

While inspecting with a loupe, we attempted mounting on several Nikon SP bodies in our inventory. However, even slight lifting of the leather covering around the diopter mounting rails on either side of the finder eyepiece prevented proper installation due to interference. Forcing it into place may result in breakage.

If you intend to mount it on a body, please carefully check the insertion alignment and any contact with the body’s leather covering using a loupe before attempting installation.
