Tele-Elmar 135mm f4, Leica telephoto lens. Product code 11851. Serial number in the 2.14 million range, manufactured in 1965. This is a first-year production Tele-Elmar 135mm. Straight helicoid. Yellow scale.
Among Leica M-mount rangefinder-coupled lenses, it boasts the longest focal length. The lens head can be detached for use with the Visoflex. Minimum focusing distance is 1.5 m, filter size is E39.
There are some signs of use such as scuff marks on the helicoid ring and slight fading on the distance scale, but overall it has a rather clean appearance. There is a slight play in the helicoid ring, though it does not affect focusing or rangefinder coupling. Other functions, including the aperture ring, operate smoothly. Many Leica telephoto lenses often have unreliable rangefinder coupling, but this example maintains perfect accuracy from the closest focusing distance to infinity, even at full aperture. The lens glass is clear with no haze or cleaning marks, offering excellent transparency. Test shots also produced very good results. It comes with an all-black 12575 hood, a plastic case, and the original box, although the serial numbers do not match.
