※About rarity

Nikkor 35mm f3.5, late version with black aperture ring. Leica screw mount with rangefinder coupling. Distance scale is in feet. Filter thread is 34.5mm.

The lens design is a Tessar-type, consisting of 4 elements in 3 groups, identical to the Leitz Elmar 35mm f3.5. Though modest in appearance, it delivers solid image quality even at full aperture.

Early versions featured an all-chrome finish, while later ones adopted a black-painted aperture ring, giving a more refined look. The black background with white aperture markings also improves readability.

Approximately 17,000 units of this lens were produced in total for both Nikon S and Leica mounts, with around 6,500 units said to have been made for the Leica mount.

The exterior shows very minimal signs of use and remains in excellent condition. The black paint is well preserved, and the chrome plating shines beautifully, almost as if it just left the factory.
All mechanical functions operate properly, and the rangefinder coupling is accurate. The glass is clear with no haze, offering a crisp viewing experience that allows you to enjoy the lens's original optical performance.
There is a faint trace of oil on the aperture blades, but this should not affect performance under normal use (servicing is available for an additional fee if desired).
This is a compact and affordable wide-angle lens for Leica, ideal for casual enjoyment. A clean original front cap is included.
