Leica M3 Black Paint

Item No. 024973

Rarity: ★★★

※About rarity

Leica M3 black paint, shipped in November 1965, with a serial number in the 1.13 million range. This is a later-model M3 with single-stroke advance and original black paint finish.

The camera is fully original, including the vulcanite covering. There is a slight brassing on areas touched by fingers, but both the top and bottom plates still retain a subtle matte texture, almost like a fine powder, that speaks to its original paint.

No dents or dings—an exceptionally clean M3 black paint. These don’t come up often.

There are still very few areas of bubbling in the paint, making it a great candidate to either preserve in its current beautiful condition or enjoy watching it age gracefully through use.

Among M3 black paint cameras, which are often heavily used, this one easily qualifies as an excellent or near-mint example.

This item was previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us, having been well cared for by its owner. It is truly appreciated to see a rare, beautiful M3BP come back. The paint on each part is in excellent condition, with no noticeable scratches or marks. It clearly shows signs of being carefully preserved. The leatherette still has a pronounced texture, offering a refreshing grip that recalls its original feel when new.

It underwent an overhaul in June 2025. The winding mechanism, shutter dial, self-timer, and other moving parts all operate smoothly. The viewfinder is also clear and crisp.

An outstanding condition that is hard to come by.
