Alpa 11si, the final and most popular model of the Alpa series. A highly reliable and easy-to-use camera, produced between 1976 and 1989. Among them, only 768 units were made in black finish. It was, and still is, considered a true luxury camera — the quintessential gentleman’s camera.
The 11si improved upon its predecessor, the 11el, by replacing the CdS metering cell with a faster and wider-range SPD sensor, and by introducing a new exposure display using three LEDs.
This particular example is the European-market version without the crest emblem on the front of the pentaprism, giving it a clean and cool appearance. The top cover has a crinkle finish, while the bottom cover is black painted. Interestingly, the body number and the bottom plate serial number are sequential but not identical — typically these numbers match, so it may have been mismatched during assembly at the factory.
There is only the slightest wear on the top of the pentaprism. The paint on all other parts remains in beautiful condition, giving the camera a crisp and lively appearance. A fine Eleven that still retains the feel of a brand-new camera from its original era.
All functions operate correctly, including the exposure meter. Its response is somewhat spot-meter-like and slightly sensitive.
The camera normally takes a PX28 or equivalents such as 4LR44 or 4SR44, but in this example, four LR44 batteries are used, with a small piece of aluminum foil filling the height gap. The red, green, and yellow exposure indicators that light up in the finder—like a traffic signal—look striking and stylish.
Comes with the original body cap and leather case. The strap section of the leather case has been replaced with a domestic strap of similar appearance.
