Summicron 35mm f2 with chrome barrel, commonly known as the 8-element version. Made in Canada. Leitz product code is SAWOM, later 11308. Serial number is in the 2,010,000 range, manufactured in 1963. Minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters, filter thread is E39.
This lens features a beautiful chrome finish and a design full of functional elegance, offering not only excellent optical performance but also the craftsmanship appeal unique to Leitz's golden postwar era.
Its soft rendering near maximum aperture is iconic, but stopping down enhances the sense of depth, and at smaller apertures it produces sharp and clear images. An outstanding lens with a wide expressive range, and above all, it looks fantastic.
Compatible original lens hoods include ITDOO and IROOA, and later types such as 12585 and 12504 also fit. A lens that excels both in performance and appearance.
This is an item previously sold by our store, cherished by the customer, and now returned to us. Welcome back!
There is a very small ding on the filter rim and several light scuffs on the barrel, but overall it retains a clean and well-kept appearance.
Although a full overhaul was carried out in 2022 at the time of the previous sale, another overhaul was completed in June 2025 in preparation for this resale. As always, the operation of the aperture and helicoid is excellent, with a smooth feel. The rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned.
Under a strong LED light, a few extremely faint cleaning marks can be seen on the inner elements, but they have virtually no impact on actual photography. The glass is otherwise clear, with no haze. The original purple-toned coating remains intact on all surfaces, preserving its original condition.
Genuine front and rear caps are included.
