Angénieux 28mm f3.5 Type R11. Originally made for the Rectaflex, but the factory adapter can be removed to use it as an M42-mount lens.
This is a later version featuring a beautiful contrast between the deep blue anodized aluminum finish and the satin chrome band. Made in 1956. Distance scale in meters. Retrofocus design with a 6-element, 6-group construction. Preset aperture. Distance markings in feet. Minimum focusing distance is 0.5 m.
The Angénieux R11 has different filter sizes between the early and late versions: 56 mm for the early type and 58 mm for the late type.
It offers gentle rendering near wide-open settings, and when stopped down it delivers pleasing sharpness, allowing you to enjoy its contrasting characteristics. It is relatively resistant to backlight, with rich tonal gradation and impressively detailed imaging. It is also well regarded for its excellent reproduction of red tones.
The unique barrel design, unlike anything from other manufacturers, is part of the charm of Angénieux. Its elegant appearance when mounted on a camera is truly delightful.

This lens is an item previously sold by our shop and has returned to us after six years of careful use by its owner. Welcome back!
There is a slight rub mark on the front edge of the barrel, but overall it shows very little use and still retains a deep, glossy black finish with a very clean appearance.
Fully overhauled in 2019. Although some time has passed since the last service, it has been used regularly, and the moving parts such as the aperture and helicoid still operate with a smooth, pleasant feel.
The rear element shows the slightest trace of coating wear, and the front element has a few fine cleaning marks, but for an Angénieux this is a remarkably clean example.
Included accessories: original front cap, original Rectaflex adapter, Miyazaki Optical lens hood, filter, and original box. Suitable both for practical use and for a collection.
