Angenieux 90mm f2.5 late type, Type Y12. Manufactured in 1960. M42 mount. 4 elements in 4 groups. Meter scale. Based on the presence of a retaining screw hole in the threaded section of the mount, it is believed that this lens was originally for Rectaflex, which, when the adapter ring is removed, converts to M42 mount.
The Angenieux 90mm f2.5 also comes in Type Y1, which has a slightly different optical design. The Y12 offers an appealing combination of a crisp, sharp focal plane even at full aperture and beautifully rich background bokeh. With an adapter, it can be enjoyed on a wide range of SLR and mirrorless cameras.
There is little signs of use and is in exceptionally fine cosmetic condition for an Angénieux. The black finish, which often tends to fade, remains well preserved.
All mechanical operations are extremely smooth, suggesting that careful servicing was carried out in the past.
The glass has only the slightest trace of coating deterioration on the front element, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, resulting in clear, clean optics. The coating is well preserved on all surfaces, and it is rare to find Type Y12 glass in such fine condition.
It comes with a third-party hood, a Tiffen adapter ring to match the size, a UV filter, a genuine front cap, and a replica rear cap.
