Early version of the first-generation Summilux 50mm f1.4, featuring a beautiful chrome finish. Often nicknamed the Lady. Serial number is in the 1.75 million range, manufactured in 1960. Leitz product code is SOOME.
Known for its elegant and refined exterior, this lens pairs seamlessly not only with classic M3 or M2 bodies from the same era, but also with modern digital M models thanks to its timeless design.
The early optical formula, prior to any redesign, produces soft and delicate rendering when shot wide open, while stopping down by one stop brings increased sharpness and dimensionality.
Filter size is E43. Compatible lens hoods include XOOIM, 12521G, and 12586.
There is a slight shine on the front edge of the barrel due to repeated attachment and removal of the hood, and minor scuffing on the helicoid. Other than that, the lens has a clean overall appearance with no noticeable damage.
It was fully overhauled in June 2025, including precise focus adjustment. The aperture ring and helicoid now offer an excellent, smooth feel thanks to meticulous maintenance.
Under strong LED light, cleaning marks from mold that could not be completely removed are visible across the rear element, but this should have little to no impact on image quality. There is no haze or noticeable wiping marks, and the coating remains intact across the entire surface.
Test shots came out well. Sample images are available on our test gallery—please have a look.
Comes with a Walz SL filter and third-party front and rear caps. Recommended for those seeking a clean-looking lens for practical use.
