This standard lens was supplied for the Leitz-Minolta CL and Leica CL, beginning in 1973. Based on its serial number, this particular unit was manufactured in 1972, prior to the official release of the CL. It features a 4-group, 6-element optical construction and a minimum focusing distance of 0.8 meters.

Offering a highly versatile angle of view between 35mm and 50mm, the lens delivers the contrast and character reminiscent of a Summicron. Compared to the Summicron 35mm, it is notably more compact and lightweight—a welcome feature. Its bright f/2 aperture, combined with a practical focal length that works well as both a standard and semi-wide lens, makes it a perfect companion for travel photography.

Compatible filters include Series 5.5 or E39 types. The Series 5.5 filters are inserted between the rubber hood and the lens, while E39 filters only screw in partway—so please use caution.

There is a tiny scratch on the knurled front ring and a small area of paint loss on the focusing knob, but otherwise the lens is free from noticeable dings or scratches, and it has a clean, well-maintained appearance.

It underwent a full overhaul in May 2025. Both the aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly with a satisfying tactile feel. Rangefinder coupling and focus accuracy are also in good condition.

The optics show some minor speckled wear to the coating on an inner element, but this has virtually no effect on actual image quality. Other than that, there are no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, and the glass is exceptionally clear and bright. Rangefinder coupling is accurate, and test shots produced excellent results.

Comes with the original Leitz 12518 rubber hood and hood cap. The rubber hood still retains good elasticity.
