The Summarit-M 50mm f/2.4. Announced at Photokina in 2014 as the successor to the Summarit-M 50mm f/2.5 (!!), which debuted in 2007. The barrel design was updated to a more modern look, and it was available in both black and silver anodized finishes. Leica catalog number: 11680. Filter size: E46. This particular lens has a serial number in the 4.59 million range and was manufactured in 2015.
The optical design consists of 4 groups and 6 elements in a symmetrical configuration. The minimum focusing distance is 0.8 meters. The actual measured weight is just 188g, and the length from the mount to the front of the lens is only 33mm.
Positioned below the Summilux and Summicron lines, it has a more modest maximum aperture, but it offers sharp rendering and the practical advantages of compact size and light weight—a lens with excellent usability.
