SOOME, later code 11114. This is a white-barrel Summilux 50mm f1.4 2nd version, serial number in the 2.07 million range, manufactured in 1964. Among Leica lenses, this is considered one of the most elegantly designed, often referred to as the Ki-fujin (Lady) for its graceful and refined appearance.

While it shares the same exterior as the first-generation Summilux, the lens construction was quietly updated to the second generation, resulting in sharper rendering at wide open apertures. This particular lens features amber and purple coatings. Filter size is E43.

The unique softness of the 1st generation has its own charm, but many prefer the 2nd generation for its subtle sharpness even at full aperture. This is a well-rounded lens, ideal for those who wish to actively enjoy shooting wide open.

This is an item previously sold by our shop and has now returned to us after being carefully used by its owner.
There are two or three extremely minor scuff marks on the helicoid ring, but overall, it is in excellent cosmetic condition.
Fully overhauled in 2023, with smooth operation of the aperture and helicoid thanks to the meticulous servicing. The rangefinder coupling is also spot on.
There is an extremely small mark—possibly residue—that could not be removed during the overhaul, located at the edge of the rear element. Other than that, the glass is exceptionally clear, with no visible cleaning marks or haze. The coating on all elements remains well preserved.
White-barrel Summilux lenses in such excellent optical condition have become increasingly rare in recent years. A superb example for those who want to experience its true rendering performance.
