Leitz panoramic head. Introduced in 1933. Product code FARUX. Both male and female threads are fine thread type. Nickel finish. The upper ring is interchangeable, with seven types available in addition to the 5 cm version. FARUX originally came with an interchangeable ring for 50 mm lenses as standard, but this example also includes the FAROS for 3.5 cm and the FARLY for 13.5 cm lenses.
The beautiful nickel finish and the pleasantly firm click feel when rotating are truly worthy of the Leitz name. The upper ring is engraved with a double scale. The lower scale is used when the camera is set in horizontal position, and the upper scale is used when shooting in vertical position.
There are slight signs of use, but considering that nearly 90 years have passed since its production, it remains in good external condition. The black paint in the engravings and the nickel plating are still well preserved. All functions operate properly. The 35mm FAROS is a bit tight to attach and remove.
Practicality aside, this is a small Leitz accessory that invites you to indulge yourself by mounting it on a rare nickel tripod head.
