Leica M9 Black Paint, 10703, is a second-generation digital M that has been officially upgraded by Leica to match the specifications of the M9-P. This transformation includes the removal of the iconic red Leica logo on the front, giving it a more stealthy and refined appearance. The only distinction from the M9-P is the absence of the M9-P engraving on the accessory shoe.
Renowned for its CCD sensor, the M9 continues to have a dedicated following for its unique color rendering that many still prefer over modern CMOS sensors. The camera retains the traditional Leica M design, including the illuminated frame lines that remain visible even when the camera is powered off—a feature that was unfortunately removed in later models like the M240, where it was replaced with an electronic system.
This unit has had its CCD sensor replaced with the upgraded version, ensuring long-term reliability. The shutter count is approximately 16,400, and it received a comprehensive refresh during its M9-to-M9-P upgrade.

There is a barely noticeable scuff on the bottom plate near the front left corner, but aside from that, the camera is immaculate, with no visible signs of use even on the top cover. The overall condition is practically like new. Finding an M9 in such pristine condition is exceptionally rare these days—this is truly a remarkable example.
All functions operate perfectly, and the sensor is flawless, shining brilliantly without any scratches. The test images confirm excellent performance, with no dead pixels detected. In 2024, the previous owner had the camera inspected and serviced by Leica Japan, ensuring it remains in top condition (documentation not included).
Includes a body cap, complete charger set, and one battery.
