Apo-Summicron-M 35mm f2 ASPH., serial number 11699, introduced in 2021. This ambitious design, typical of Leica, was developed to push beyond the limitations of traditional lenses. It is a wide-angle lens with ultra-high resolution.
With a 5-group, 10-element structure, it features a highly intricate design, incorporating three aspherical elements. One of these elements is aspherical on both sides, meaning there are a total of four aspherical surfaces! Unusually for a wide-angle lens, it also incorporates apochromatic correction.
Additionally, the minimum focusing distance for rangefinder coupling is 0.7m, but with live view, it can focus as close as 0.3m, making shooting with digital M-series Leicas much more flexible.
Even at wide open aperture, the lens delivers impressively sharp images. During real-world tests at long distances, the difference between shooting wide open or stopped down is so subtle that it can be difficult to tell.
The lens barrel shows no signs of use and is in like-new condition. The included 12477 hood and the dedicated metal front cap show only minor signs of use.
The aperture and helicoid function properly. There are no haze or cleaning marks on the glass, which remains beautifully clear and sharp.
Real-world test results were also excellent. The lens works perfectly with the rangefinder from wide open (focus coupling is not functional below 0.7m). The Apo-Summicron 35mm delivers the expected high-quality performance.
It comes with the original box, manual, inspection certificate, leather case, hood, ring, dedicated front cap, rear cap, and a 13131 UVa filter.
