Introduced in 1949, this is an enlarging lens hood originally designed for use with the Elmar 50mm lens on enlargers such as the Valoy and Focomat, or on focusing stages. Its purpose was to improve the ease of aperture operation during enlarging work.

In practice, it can also be used as a lens hood for photography, and today it is primarily used as a hood for the Elmar 50mm lens.
Weighing approximately 60g, it has a rugged appearance. The aperture ring features a satisfying click-stop mechanism—a fine example of Leitz's precision craftsmanship.

The front end has an A36 diameter, allowing for the use of a genuine Leitz cap.
Compared to the classic FISON hood, the VALOO is slightly longer, offering potentially better shading performance as a hood.

Overall, there are signs of use such as scuffing and wear. Aside from some brassing visible on the knurled front edge, most of the paint remains intact.
Mounting has been confirmed on our Elmar 50mm f/3.5 lens. The click-stop mechanism feels satisfying, and operation is smooth and functional.
