Summicron 50mm f2, 1st generation rigid mount, late type in black paint finish. Red scale. The combination of black paint and red engravings gives it a bold and sharp appearance.
This particular lens comes from the final batch of the red scale series, just before the transition to yellow scale. Serial number in the 2.14 million range, manufactured in 1965.
The black painted areas show bubbling and natural brassing on the parts frequently touched by hands, adding a rich patina that gives it an excellent vintage character. A perfect match for black-painted Leica M3, MP, M2, or M4 bodies. Fully original.

The base of the lens barrel and the black-painted aperture ring show natural wear from handling, revealing areas where the black finish has gently worn away. The mount surface is chrome.
It underwent a full overhaul in 2021, and the smooth feel of each operation remains superb. Rangefinder coupling is excellent, and the aperture blades are clean.
The optics are in beautiful condition, with only slight coating disturbance around the edge of the rear element. No haze or cleaning marks are visible elsewhere, and the glass remains clear and bright. The coating is well preserved across all surfaces. Actual shooting results were excellent. This is a lens suitable for both collectors and practical use.
Comes with genuine front and rear caps. The caps are black-painted brass, complementing the lens perfectly. The front cap has developed attractive bubbling in the paint, adding to its character.
