Travagon 35mm f3.5 lens made by Albert Schacht in Germany. Leica screw mount with rangefinder coupling. Optical design consists of 3 groups and 6 elements. The distinctive zebra-patterned barrel gives it a unique appearance. Minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. Filter diameter is 48mm. The barrel is relatively lightweight due to its aluminum construction, weighing approximately 195g.
Schacht was founded in 1948 in Munich by Albert Schacht, who had previously gained experience at Carl Zeiss and Steinheil. The company later relocated to Ulm. Early lenses were engraved with "A.Schacht Munchen," while later ones bore the name "A.Schacht Ulm" after the move. Schacht produced relatively affordable lenses, and is well known for its Exakta and M42 mount lenses, though a limited number were also made in Leica mount.
There are some scuffs and minor corrosion on the shiny aluminum parts that accent the exterior, but overall, it remains in good condition.
Fully overhauled in June 2025. The operation of the aperture and helicoid feels pleasantly smooth and well-damped. Rangefinder coupling is perfectly accurate.
There is some coating damage on the periphery of the front element and on the rear element, but the impact on image quality is likely minimal.
Test shots showed good results. The focus plane has a decent sharpness even at full aperture. The background bokeh has a somewhat rough character, adding a classic vintage touch. Sample images are available in our shooting gallery; we hope you’ll take a look.
Comes with original plastic front and rear caps.
