Summilux 35mm f/1.4 2nd Generation – Early Model with Stopper
Commonly known as the Stopper Version, this is the earliest model of the 2nd-generation Summilux 35mm f1.4. Leitz catalog number 11870, serial number 2,340,000 range. Manufactured in Canada in 1969.
This particular unit is a later variation of the Stopper Version, featuring a chrome stopper—a detail that makes classification a bit tricky. LoL
A signature fast wide-angle lens from Leitz, the spherical Summilux 35mm delivers a beautifully soft, dreamy glow at wide-open apertures, while stopping down results in crisp, sharp rendering—allowing you to fully enjoy the signature Summilux look.
Among the Summilux 35mm models, the Stopper Version is highly sought after, often purchased on request. However, it has become increasingly rare on the market in recent years.
There is slight paint loss near the base of the stopper, but otherwise, the exterior remains clean with minimal signs of use.
Both the aperture and helicoid operate smoothly. The lens has a few minor coating imperfections and very faint cleaning marks on the front element, but these should have no noticeable effect on actual photography. There is no haze, and the rangefinder coupling is accurate.
Includes front and rear plastic caps, a 12504 hood, and a Series 7 filter. The 12504 hood has a minor scuff mark in one area.
