The 2nd version Summilux 35mm was produced without a model change from 1961 to 1995—an exceptionally long production run—and remains highly popular to this day.
Much has been said about its rendering, but one of its key attractions is the dramatic difference between shooting wide open and stopped down.
At full aperture, it offers a dreamy, soft rendering; stop it down, and the lens delivers sharpness and contrast with striking clarity and dimensionality.
Its expressive range is broad, making it a deeply versatile lens.
Compact and lightweight, with a fast f/1.4 aperture, unique character, and excellent design—it’s a remarkably well-balanced and iconic lens.
The lens body shows very little sign of use and remains in excellent cosmetic condition.
The 12504 hood has some paint loss around the front edge, but overall it is still in very nice shape.
Fully overhauled in March 2025, including precise focus calibration.
Both the aperture and helicoid operate with a smooth, satisfying feel, just as expected—offering an outstanding user experience.
Rangefinder coupling is spot-on, even at full aperture.
There are two or three extremely faint cleaning marks on the front element, but aside from that, there are no noticeable scratches or haze.
The glass is clear and crisp—ready to deliver the lens’s true optical character.
Test results were excellent as well. Please refer to our Test Shoot Gallery for sample images.
