A pre-war, uncoated Elmar 35mm f/3.5 lens. Leitz product code: EKURZCHROM.
Serial number in the 370,000 range, manufactured in 1937.
Feet scale. 3-group, 4-element optical design. Uncoated.
Among Leitz lenses, this is one of the slimmest designs—second only to the Hektor 28mm—making it a very convenient option for carrying around.
While the center remains sharp at full aperture, the distinctive falloff toward the edges creates a unique and atmospheric rendering.
Though a traditionally designed lens, it offers surprising depth of character the more you use it, and has been enjoying a resurgence in appreciation in recent years.
Compatible lens hoods include the FLQOO and FOOKH.
Our own FB-07 hood, featuring aperture control, is also highly rated and can be used without vignetting.
Some minor scuff marks from use and slight loss of plating around the edge of the name ring can be seen, but considering the lens is nearly 90 years old, it is in remarkably good cosmetic condition overall.
Fully overhauled in April 2025. Thanks to meticulous servicing, both the aperture and helicoid offer exceptionally smooth operation. Rangefinder coupling is precise.
The interior of the barrel has been carefully repainted with matte anti-reflective lacquer, enhancing contrast and image clarity.
The front element shows a few very faint cleaning marks, but they have virtually no impact on actual shooting.
There is no haze, and the glass is clear and crisp—excellent optical condition.
Test shots confirmed the lens performs very well.
