※About rarity

Tele-Elmarit 90mm f/2.8, black chrome finish.
Serial number in the 2.48 million range, manufactured in 1971. This is the later version with yellow scale markings, made by Leitz Canada. Optical design consists of 5 elements in 5 groups. Leica product code: 11800.

Although it’s a telephoto lens with a practical maximum aperture of f/2.8, it features a compact barrel size comparable to a standard lens.
With a well-balanced weight and a comfortably positioned focusing ring, it offers excellent handling.
Its beautifully crafted design—reminiscent of the Summilux 50mm—with finely milled knurling, adds to its visual appeal.

At wide apertures, the rendering is moderately soft and gentle, while stopping down increases contrast dramatically, delivering rich, bold images.
Compatible hood: 12575. Filter size: E39.

There are no noticeable scuffs or scratches from use, and none of the common paint loss on the knurled focus ring or marks from hood attachment often seen on the front barrel.
Overall, the lens shows virtually no signs of use and retains a deep, lustrous black finish with a beautifully clean appearance.

Fully overhauled in April 2025.
Thanks to meticulous servicing, both the aperture and helicoid operate with exceptional smoothness.
The aperture ring has precise, satisfying clicks, and the helicoid action is fluid.
Rangefinder coupling is spot-on, and focus accuracy is excellent.

On the rear element, there is a single, ultra-faint hairline mark only visible under a strong LED light, which should have no impact on image quality.
Other than that, the glass is free of haze and crystal clear.
Test shots produced excellent results.
