The Distagon 25mm f/2.8 is an ultra-wide-angle lens manufactured by Carl Zeiss for the Contarex mount, featuring a black barrel finish.
Introduced in 1963, it remained in production until 1973.
This particular example, with a serial number in the 3,970,000 range, was manufactured in 1965.
The measured weight is 448g.
It features a retrofocus design with 8 elements in 7 groups.
The minimum focusing distance is just 17 cm, allowing you to get very close while still enjoying the expansive perspective that only an ultra-wide lens can offer.
The barrel is in clean condition with minimal signs of use.
There are two small marks on the silver band accenting the helicoid ring.
Fully overhauled in April 2025, the helicoid — which tends to become stiff over time — now operates with very smooth precision.
Some slight haze remains around the edges of the inner elements, which could not be completely removed during servicing, but the center remains clear and crisp.
Actual shooting tests produced excellent results.
The lens comes with its original front cap and a plastic case bearing matching serial numbers, marked Zeiss Ikon Voigtländer.
