An ultra-wide-angle lens for the Contarex system: the Distagon 18mm f/4, manufactured by Carl Zeiss in West Germany.
This particular lens, with a serial number in the 4,490,000 range, was produced in 1967.
Between 1967 and 1972, a total of 2,500 units were manufactured.
It employs a retrofocus design, which minimizes rear protrusion and thus eliminates the need for mirror lock-up.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.3 meters.
The measured weight of the lens alone is 355g.
There are some signs of use, such as light marks from attaching and removing filters at the front of the barrel and minor scuffing, but overall, it remains a clean and attractive example.
All functions operate properly.
When viewed under a strong LED light, slight coating deterioration can be seen on the glass, but there are no noticeable wiping marks or haze.
The lens comes complete with its dedicated filter ring, UV and yellow filters, a full interchangeable pink screen set, a rear cap, and a leather case.
Please note that the yellow filter shows numerous light wiping marks.
Highly recommended for collectors as well.
