Elmar 65mm for Visoflex with OTZFO helicoid (16464K). Serial number in the 1.84 million range, manufactured in 1961 by Leitz Canada. This is the earlier chrome version, compatible with E41 filters. Mounted via Visoflex II or III on an M-series Leica, it allows shooting from approximately 15 cm from the front of the lens to infinity. Highly regarded for its close-up performance, this lens has earned an excellent reputation among both our staff and customers. The recessed front element makes a hood unnecessary, which is another welcome point. Its superb build quality also reflects the golden era of Leitz production.
In recent years, thanks to the variety of available mount adapters, it has become easy to enjoy this lens with live-view cameras and digital SLRs, greatly expanding its usability. With very high resolving power and excellent color rendition, it is a versatile lens. A true hidden gem from Leitz that we strongly recommend even to mirrorless users.
There are very slight scuffs on the helicoid visible only under certain light, but otherwise the barrel, including the lens body, is in excellent cosmetic condition. In September 2025 both the lens and helicoid underwent a complete overhaul. The helicoid and aperture ring now operate with smooth, well-balanced torque. The glass is clear with no noticeable scratches or haze. Focus accuracy and rendering have been confirmed through live view, and the shooting test results were excellent. Comes with original front and rear caps.
