A lens hood for the Elmar 50mm from the Leica Model A era, known as FISON. Made of brass with a black paint finish. This is an early version without the retaining screw, featuring a one-piece construction with reinforcing ribs on the sides for added strength. It has the silver inlay Leitz Wetzlar inscription.
As Leica’s very first lens hood, the FISON enjoyed an exceptionally long production run of 38 years. This example appears to be from the mid period of the early screwless versions. Its simple, clean style is unmistakably cool.
There are clear signs of use throughout, giving it a well-earned and attractive patina. For an early FISON, this is a good example. There are no notable dents or distortions. A perfectly practical condition for regular use.
It has been roughly one hundred years since it was made, placing it firmly in the realm of antiques.
A fitting companion for early Leica A models with Elmar, Elmax, or Anastigmat lenses, as well as for DII or DIII bodies. Mount it on your camera, admire the look, and enjoy the satisfaction it brings.
