Nickel Elmar 35mm f/3.5. Serial number in the 140,000 range, manufactured in 1932. Heavy Cam version. Leica code: EKURZKUP. Nickel barrel. Uncoated. Distance scale in meters. Full-rotation helicoid.
This version features an exceptionally thick and sloped rangefinder coupling cam, known as Heavy Cam in Japan and Snail Cam overseas. It is found in early examples of the Elmar 35mm.
Compatible original hoods include FLQOO and FOOKH. Our FB-07 Elmar 50mm hood is also suitable.
Please note that when mounting this Elmar 35mm on a Leica DIII with a slow-speed shutter dial, the infinity lock may interfere with the dial, preventing proper attachment. We offer a reversible modification to prevent this interference while maintaining the ability to restore it to its original state. Feel free to contact us for details.
There are some very minor signs of use, such as light scuffs, but considering that over 90 years have passed since its production, this Nickel Elmar Heavy Cam is in remarkably clean condition.
Fully overhauled in March 2025, with all operations now exceptionally smooth. The rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned.
There is some natural aging-related yellowing on the rear element, but this is unlikely to affect actual shooting. No haze or noticeable cleaning marks are present, and the glass is beautifully clear. You can fully enjoy the original image quality of this classic 35mm Elmar.
Includes original Bakelite front and rear caps, as well as the original box. A great piece for any collection.
