The Leica M Monochrom, a dedicated camera for monochrome photography, is now in its second generation, the Typ 246. Leica's product code for this model is 10930.
The base body has evolved from the M9 to the M240, with a significant change from a CCD sensor to a CMOS sensor. The 24-megapixel sensor, free of a Bayer filter (color filter), is specialized for monochrome photography, delivering stunningly high-resolution images. The Leica M Monochrom's raison d'être lies in its ability to enable a new era of monochrome photographic expression.
With the M240 as its foundation, the Typ 246 boasts enhanced operational speed, stability, and ISO sensitivity range, including a much higher maximum ISO. The increased battery capacity allows for extended shooting sessions. Incidentally, the M240 series is the only M model capable of recording video. This capability extends to the Typ 246, enabling unique video creations using vintage lenses. Imagine capturing dramatic footage with an Angénieux S1—it would be an experience like no other!
This unit was purchased from an authorized domestic dealer and has had only one owner. The exterior is in excellent condition, and all accessories are included.
Purchased domestically in 2015, this camera has been carefully used, as evident from its excellent exterior condition. While some signs of use are visible on the protective seal of the bottom plate, the body itself remains in beautiful shape. It would pair seamlessly with a brand-new current lens without any aesthetic mismatch.
All functions operate normally. Both still images and videos have been test-shot to verify functionality and confirm the integrity of the captured data. No dead pixels were detected. The viewfinder offers a clear and sharp view, and most importantly, the CMOS sensor is free from any scratches.
The package includes the original box, charger and cables, warranty card, inspection certificate, strap, and body cap. This is a well-maintained unit with excellent provenance, characteristic of a single-owner item.
