Leica 50mm 1:1 Viewfinder, SBOOI, later designated as 12015. A masterpiece of functional simplicity, this Leitz viewfinder offers exceptional clarity.
This is an early version with a 5cm engraving and a mix of lowercase fonts. The eyepiece is chrome, and unlike later versions, it lacks knurling on both sides for grip. It features a retaining screw on the shoe mount to prevent slipping, and the foot is secured with four set screws, making it a rarer variant.
The SBOOI exists in numerous variations, and this particular unit shows signs of being part of an early experimental phase. It is likely one of the earliest examples among the first-generation SBOOI finders.
The exterior shows some minor scuffs, with a slightly higher amount than usual.
The glass has a few small balsam separation spots, but they do not affect visibility. Enjoy the crisp and clear view that the SBOOI is known for.
