※About rarity

This is a Nikon S3 rangefinder camera, manufactured by Nippon Kogaku (Nikon), in chrome. The serial number is in the 6 million range. Released in March 1958, it is the successor to the S2 and was marketed as the more affordable version of the SP.

The camera features a robust build and reliable operational performance, earning a solid reputation as a practical camera. The viewfinder constantly displays frames for 35mm, 50mm, and 105mm lenses. Parallax correction is done via a mark within the frame. This particular model is equipped with a fabric shutter curtain (the later models feature a titanium curtain).

The included lens is the Nikkor-S 50mm f1.4, a compact, fast, and large-aperture lens. Its characteristic soft rendering at wide-open apertures becomes sharp and detailed when stopped down.

There are noticeable scratches on the front metal parts near the rangefinder dial, and the bottom plate shows multiple scuff marks. The body exhibits signs of use overall, while the lens shows minimal signs of wear.

The camera operates normally, and the viewfinder is clear and easy to use. The contrast of the rangefinder image is solid.

The lens glass is clear, with no fogging. There is a very minor edge wear on the rear element, but it should not affect shooting performance.

It has been moderately used and functions smoothly, making it an ideal choice for someone who wants to enjoy photography without hesitation.
