Leitz vertical rangefinder FOFER. This model features a larger distance dial than the original FODIS rangefinder, making it easier to operate. This particular unit is the black/chrome version, commonly referred to as semi-chrome, with distance markings in feet.

The black enamel finish is elegantly accented by a silver inlaid hexagonal E. Leitz logo, exuding a sense of prestige. A truly exceptional piece that showcases the precision and refinement characteristic of prewar Leitz craftsmanship.

This standalone rangefinder would pair beautifully with a semi-chrome Standard model body—an exceptionally rare and striking combination.

There are light scuffs and small scratches throughout, with some areas showing exposed brass, but the black paint remains well preserved. Considering its age, the overall condition is quite respectable.

Fully overhauled in May 2025. The rangefinder displays a crisp and clear double image, and distance measurement is spot on.

While the glass shows some signs of aging, it does not affect visibility. A practical piece in worry-free condition—perfect for regular use.
